# Highlighting

We discussed the two main uses of color: to **quantify** data and to **label/categorize** data.

Color can also be used to highlight a certain part of the visualization to draw attention to it.

The best way to do so is to use (different shades of) grey for the rest of the visualization, and to use a bright contrasting color to draw the viewer's attention to a specific part of the visualization.
